Kevin L. Mitchell
Vice President and Deputy of Global Operations, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems
Kevin L. Mitchell is vice president and deputy of Global Operations at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, a premier provider of military aircraft, autonomous and space systems and next-generation solutions to assist our customers worldwide, preserve freedom and advance human discovery.
In this role, Mitchell leads an organization of more than 5,000 employees that produces some of the world’s most technologically advanced military and space systems. He oversees all sector manufacturing activity, including innovation, global expansion and productivity. Additonally, his duties include oversight of the Global Supply Chain organization and the sector’s Facilities and Security organizations, as well as Environmental, Safety, Health and Medical.
Most recently, as vice president, Global Supply Chain, Mitchell was responsible for developing and maintaining a strong supply base for the broad set of products produced for Aerospace Systems customers. His core duties encompassed subcontracts, procurement, pricing and estimating, transportation, kitting and production support.
Previously, Mitchell was vice president of manufacturing and site manager for the company’s El Segundo (Calif.) site where he was responsible for manufacturing operations, including directing, planning, organizing, optimizing and controlling activities and site management. He also was responsible for site manufacturing at Moss Point, Miss. and New Town, N.D., as well as the global manufacturing statement of work in San Diego and Redondo Beach, Calif.
Mitchell has nearly 30 years of success in managing large-scale operations. He joined Northrop Grumman in 2003, and prior to that he worked for McDonald Douglas/Boeing.
Mitchell earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in business administration, focusing on global business, from the University of Phoenix. He completed Harvard Business School’s executive program, Creating Corporate Advantage, and holds a Six Sigma Green Belt from the University of California, Los Angeles.
A current member of the El Segundo Board of Education, Mitchell also serves on the University of San Diego Supply Chain Management Institute Advisory Board, the University of Southern California Marshall Global Supply Chain Management Board and the Greater Los Angeles Afrian American Chamber of Commerce.
